Jesus was born and He died. There's no question about it. The real miracle happened after His death. He lived. Jesus walked the earth for another 40 days and showed Himself to over 500 people including His disciples. Jesus not only proved to His disciples that His teachings were the real deal, when He appeared to them after the resurrection, but His physical presence taught them not to fear death. Through sin we have death, but through Christ we have life.
Through sin we have death, but through Christ we have life.
This is the story of stories. Christ arose. He died, and our sinful-selves died with Him. It proves to every believer that just like Romans 6:11b says, we are "dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus."
Isn't this something to be thankful for this holiday season? God's grace covers us so that we may have eternal life! There's one line in the lyrics to Chris Tomlin's song O Holy Night that capture perfectly my emotions after hearing such a powerful, and loving story:
"Fall on your knees..."
I realize that this is a song about Christ's birth, but these are such powerful lyrics that can be connected to His life, death and resurrection as well. Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He's the Bread of Life, and the Light of the World. Most importantly, He's alive.
